This post is going to be picture dense, so many pictures to show. I mean, shit, this one above is the road to the cottage we stayed at. It is in between two other wineries.
We took a slight detour and ended up driving through the tree lined streets of Somerset West.
This picture above is the view at Grangehurst from the porch of the cottage we stayed. So, when you are in this position you must, I mean MUST, turn to the right and snap, and turn to the right and snap, etc. ... These are the results:
Now you feel like you have been to our cottage. Here is the inside:
So, it begins to feel like an ad for the place. We ran with that idea when we tasted their sparkling rose.
Sparkling rose is a great drink. We even got a bottle of JC Leroux sparkling wine when we purchased our car! But you can't live on sparkling rose alone. Our first stop in Stellenbosch was to a brandy tasting at Van Ryn.
They make a whole lot of brandy
Handmade barrels
Chocolate and coffee brandy tasting.
It was one of the best places to go. The brandy was great, each type was unique. We brought a bottle of the 12 year aged brandy, so we can share it every anniversary until it is gone or until we buy another bottle... lol.
Our next stop was at Spier. They are a super large winery. An art village, restaurants, and Segway tour of the entire vineyard are there so you can spend the whole day. We are going to have to go back to see the art village, because of course we chose the Segway tour.
I am always going to cherish the memories of our trip to Stellenbosch. Our love for each other is evident anywhere we go, but this time it was special. Each day was completely different and lots of fun, I am glad we waited to make this all possible.
I couldn't get this song out of my mind: Looking Glass - Brandy
Oh man! So gorgeous! I'm super jealous of the brandy-tasting. :)
